Tryouts for the U-14 Panthers (Fall 2013/Spring 2014) will be held on Tuesday June 4th and Tuesday June 11th.
The SMU Panthers are a competitive girls travel soccer team based in St. Mary’s County Maryland. The Panthers are coached by Pete Staufenberger. Coach Staufenberger is also the Girl’s Head JV Coach and Varsity assistant coach at St. Mary’s Ryken High School. Coach Staufenberger enters his 5th season on the coaching staff at St. Mary’s Ryken having worked with the boys program for 3 seasons. He has been the Panthers Head Coach for 4 seasons. Coach Staufenberger holds various coaching diplomas including the NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and NSCAA National Goalkeeping Diploma. Coach Staufenberger is assisted by Coach Tim Baker (NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and USSF National "D") and Coach Steve Wamsley (USSF "E"). The Panthers play year round and compete with clubs in the Washington DC Metro area in the upper divisions of the highly competitive Washington Area Girls Soccer (WAGS) League. This Spring, in addition to WAGS league play, the Panthers are planning to participate in the following tournaments: PWSI Icebreaker (Northern VA), Richmond Kickers Colonial Cup (Richmond VA), and the Maryland President’s Cup. The Panthers hold open tryouts each Spring and are always looking to add highly motivated and talented players to our team and currenty have roster spots available.
