St. Mary's Soccer is always interested in adding experienced, energetic, high quality, soccer coaches to our youth soccer programs. The SMS RecPlus Program is currently taking applications for the 2020/2021 season.
Coaches interested in coaching at the RecPlus soccer level must have a minimum of a USSF E License, The Grassroots Pathway 4v4, 7v7, 9v9, & 11v11, USC Diploma, or approval from SMS. Interested Head and Assistant coaches need to send:
Please email all of the above items by Wednesday, June 24th, directly to the SMS VP of RecPlus at recplus@
St. Mary’s Soccer, operating in cooperation with other soccer clubs throughout Southern Maryland, offers a Recreation Plus (RecPlus) Division that allows above average players the opportunity to play competitive soccer without the travel and fees required by select teams. The Rec Plus program includes teams from St. Mary's Soccer, Waldorf Soccer Club (WSC), La Plata Youth Soccer Association (LPYSA), and Pisgah Youth Soccer Association (Pisgah). RecPlus is open to both male and female players in the U8, U10, and U12 age groups. RecPlus coaches are experienced coaches with above average qualifications and generally hold at least a USSF "E" license or equivalent.
Player Evaluations (Tryouts)
Since no players are ever “cut” from the recreational soccer program, it is inaccurate to use the term “tryout.” We hold player evaluations to determine player placement – on either a recreational or RecPlus team. Prior to each Fall season, a minimum of two evaluations will be held in conjunction with registration. These evaluations will determine which players are eligible for the RecPlus division. The coaches that have been selected for the upcoming season will evaluate each player based on the evaluation format and rating form. A supplemental evaluation may be held prior to the Spring season to fill roster slots created by departing players.
Players will be placed on teams through a modified draft procedure, with some restrictions on team assignments based on the area in which they live.
Each RecPlus team roster is composed prior to the Fall season and will stay together through the end of the following Spring season. There are typically 7 - 9 games each season, with half played at home and half played away. The away games are played on game fields in St. Mary's County (against other SMS teams) and Charles County (against WSC, LPYSA, and Pisgah teams). Listed below are the RecPlus game fields in Charles County.

Fees and Registration
St. Mary’s Soccer offers online registration only before each new season begins. Showing up for an evaluation does not register your player for the Fall or Spring season.
