Congratulations to St. Mary’s United’s own Luke Kokolios, who was named to the 2011 Maryland ODP team (1998s).  As a member of the ODP team, Luke will get to play in several tournaments against other state ODP teams and travel to Scotland over Spring break to play against Youth Academy teams from European powerhouse clubs, Glasgow Rangers and Glasgow Celtic.  Luke learned to play the game playing for St. Mary’s Youth Soccer and now plays for the U11 Boys SMU Rangers, for whom he’s played since the team was formed in 2008.  The team is coached by Alex Kokolios (Luke’s Dad) and Jim Funyak. 

The US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP) is a national identification and development program for high-level players. The program identifies, forms, and develops youth players throughout the country to represent their state and regional associations.  These teams are comprised of the best Maryland players in various age groups.  See the MSYSA ODP website for more information on the program.

St. Mary's Youth Soccer continues to sponsor a soccer shoe sale and donation program to benefit Special Olympics in St. Mary's County.  Used soccer cleats of all styles and sizes are offered for sale at $5 per pair.  However, the program relies on the donation of used shoes to make it work.  If you have any used soccer cleats, shin guards, or other equipment, please consider donating them to Special Olympics.  Sales and donation reception tables will be set up at the Hollywood Soccer Complex on game Saturdays through the first few weeks of the season.  For more information, or to make special arrangements for sales or donations, call Kyle Rambo at 301-373-5057.
