Claire's Cup to be held Nov. 15
Schedules are now posted!

SMYS - Meet Mathew Sullivan - Mathew is this year’s Claire’s Cup Hero.

St. Mary’s Youth Soccer (SMYS) will hold the third annual Claire’s Cup Adult 4v4 Soccer tournament on Friday, November 15th at Chancellor’s Run Regional Park. Claire’s Cup was established by St. Mary’s Youth Soccer in 2011 to support one of the soccer league’s players, Claire Broadhead and her family, during Claire’s ongoing challenges with leukemia. Claire Broadhead is back on the soccer field and doing well, even though she continues to face challenges related to her leukemia diagnosis. SMYS decided to continue Claire’s Cup as an annual event in hopes of supporting a local St. Mary’s County family each year.

This year’s Claire’s Cup tournament is in support of Mathew Sullivan, a local three year old who was diagnosed with leukemia just before Christmas in 2012. Mathew recently entered the maintenance stage of his treatment which requires his family to travel to Children’s Medical Center in DC each month for treatment and every other month for five consecutive days to continue his chemotherapy. Mathew and his family embrace each day and St. Mary’s Youth Soccer is delighted to have the opportunity to assist this deserving family through Claire’s Cup.
