Curriculum for U5 through U8 Divisions

 

 

1.  U5 Division

            a.  Make it fun

            b.  Run with the ball and emphasize on direction

            c.  Try foot to hand and thigh to hand

            d.  Try to explain attack and defense

            e.  Spend only a few minutes on each drill (attention span non-existing)

             f.  Make drills fun and involve parents (future coaches)

 

 

2.  U6 and U7 Divisions

            a.  Make it fun

b.  Run with the ball and emphasize on direction

            c.  Try foot to hand, thigh to hand and head to hand

            d.   Start explaining attack and defense

            e.   Start to use proper soccer fundamentals        

            f.   Foot to ball coordination

            g.   Trap/release and change direction

            h.  Start to emphasize on teammates and teamwork

i.   Spend only a few minutes (ten minutes tops) on each drill

(Attention span very short)

 

 

 

3.  U8 Division

            a.  Make it fun

b.  Run with the ball and emphasize on ball control

            c.  Try foot to hand, thigh to hand and head to hand

            d.  Explain attack and defense

            e.  Start to use proper soccer fundamentals         

            f.   Foot to ball coordination

            g.  Trap/release and change direction

            h.  Start to emphasize on teammates and teamwork

            i.  Proper ball control and movement

j.  Emphasize on team mates and team work

            k.  Drills not for speed but accuracy (Perform drills with kids)

            f.   Foot to ball coordination

            g.  Trap/release and change direction

            h.  Emphasize on teammates and teamwork

                i.   Proper ball control and movement

            k.  Drills not for speed but accuracy (Perform drills with kids)

            l.  Start explaining the importance of positioning

            j.  Start individual skills

            m.  Explain defense (opponent possess the ball any where on the field)

            a.  All coaches should have completed SMYS assigned training 

            b.  Demand proper techniques from players

            c.  Start drills for space and movement

            d.  Drill should be performed faster and accurate

            e.  Use above drills and insert some degree of difficulty

            f.   Split players into team A & B and do drills as a challenge

g.  Start team concepts on push up defense to attack and pull back offense to defense
